The Office of the Seniors Advocate of BC released the British Columbia Residential Care Quick Facts Directory on March 18, 2016. The Directory includes 292 publicly subsidized facilities in British Columbia and complies information such as serious incidence reports and care services and quality.
The report revealed that of the 292 publicly funded facilities in this province, 84 per cent of them, or 232 facilities, do not meet the ministry’s own staffing guideline of 3.36 hours of care per senior per day.
As a result of the information stemming from this report, Selina Robinson moved the following motion:
Be it resolved that this House call on the government to take immediate action that ensures all licensed and regulated care homes are meeting all government standards of care.
